Tappening

This company is a wealth of information. You really need to go over to the Tappening website to check out some of the statistics and interesting article regarding bottled water. Did you know:

Tappening is offering one lucky winner here at Steals and deals their own chance to help our environment by giving away to them a water bottle. All you have to do is go to the Tappening website and read all the fact they have regarding our environment. Come back here and tell us in the comment section one interesting fact. I've never been on the bottled water bandwagon though I do still filter mine at home before drinking it (unless I'm just really thirsty.)

Thank you!

such an interesting article! I prefer tap water...filtered, but tap water. All bottled water tastes like plastic to me! (I was raised on well water though, so I'm spoiled!) I learned that tap water contains chlorination which kills bacteria. Who knew?

I learned that bottled water contains the same contaminants as tap water, according to one recent report. They found it contained bacteria, caffeine, the pain reliever acetaminophen, fertilizer, solvents, plastic-making chemicals and the radioactive element strontium.

YUCKO!

"The sale and consumption of “bottled water” continues to grow at an astounding rate throughout the world. This is especially so in the USA." To be perfectly honest, I am shocked by this. Just from an aesthetic viewpoint, I always thought the whole bottled water phenomenon looked really shallow and sel-indulgent.

This amazes me: "Making bottles to meet Americans' demand for bottled water required the equivalent of more than 17 million barrels of oil in 2006, enough fuel for more than 1 million United States cars for a year, and generated more than 2.5 million tons of carbon dioxide." I read through the facts and although I've heard many of them, it still shocks me. We use a Brita pitcher and BPA free bottles.

And a new report found that bottled water contains the same contaminants as tap water, ah, because most bottled water comes from a tap before getting filtered by an over-sized Brita equivalent and shot into a BPA contaminated bottle.

This is the basic info for my area:
Local Water System Report

City of Bridge City
Bridge City, TX
Serves: 11,043 people

An Environmental Working Group analysis of tap water tests from 1998 through 2002 shows that customers of City of Bridge City drank water containing up to 11 pollutants, including 2 unregulated contaminants. City of Bridge City is one of 65,000 water suppliers across the country wrestling with treating water polluted by sprawl, sewage, factory farms, and industry.

Most were above the health limit but within the legal limit.

What I do:

I do not drink water out of the tap plain HOWEVER~I drink 1 -2 gallaons of tea a day made with tap water~run thur the coffe pot!
If you use water in cooking or for coffee or tea by heating it to a boil then it's even safer.
My saying:

WHen in doubt boil it out!
just run you water thur the coffe pot & you're all good!
